A piece made to last generations still needs a little care. Here's how to keep yours brilliant.
Everyday Care
Jewelry goes on last and comes off first. Perfume, sunscreen and hairspray dull gold and cloud stones — let them dry before dressing. Remove your pieces for the gym, the pool, and the garden; chlorine is the fastest way to damage gold alloys.
Cleaning at Home
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft brush will handle most diamonds and gold. Rinse, then dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners for emeralds, opals, pearls and any estate piece — vintage settings deserve gentler hands.
Storage
Store pieces separately — diamonds scratch everything, including other diamonds. Keep chains fastened to avoid tangling, and pearls away from dry heat. The original box is usually the right home.
Professional Care
Once a year, let us inspect prongs, clasps and settings — complimentary for the life of the piece. If a stone ever feels loose, stop wearing the piece and contact us straight away.
